Robert Adams
Robert Adams was born in Orange, New Jersey in May of 1937. Since an early age Robert had fought against chronic bronchial problems. At 11 he was diagnosed with polio in his back, left arm, and hand. luckily he was able to fight this of and make a recovery. Later in life Robert attended the University of Colorado, but soon transferred to Redlands and received his B.A. in english. After that Robert attended USC for his postgraduate study and to obtain his PH.D in English. Robert then married Kerstin Mornestam whom he had met while he attended Redlands. The two moved back to colorado and Robert was employed as a college professor at the University of Colorado. He caught the eye of the western landscapes of North America, because of his interest in this he began to look at photos from Timothy O'Sullivan and William Henry Jackson. Robert Adams is best known for his refined back-and-white photographs. These pictures captured the impact of human activity and diminishing open wilderness.
Robert Adams stood out to me because most of his photos i looked at captured very elegant messages with not to much in that particular shot. I guess what attracted me to his photography was just the messages I got from his work, it shows how much "man" has taken over nature and everything in it.
